Man injured in motorcycle accident in Bethlehem Township picks up bike, rides home By Bevin Theodore August 27, 2009, 7:14AM
A Northampton man who crashed his motorcycle Tuesday afternoon on the Route 33 North ramp to Route 22 West in Bethlehem Township picked up the bike and rode it home, despite his injuries.
Pennsylvania State Police at Bethlehem say Richard Dapko , 63, went off the shoulder of the ramp about 3:30 p.m., and lost control of the bike on some loose gravel. The 2006 Yamaha V-Star 1100 fell on its side, but passersby helped him right the motorcycle.
Police say Dapko suffered a moderate injury, but he was wearing a helmet and was not transported to an area hospital.
I trashed my Katana in the rain going about 40mph and pretty much got up and rode it home, oil leak and all. I was more worried about my bike than I was myself. The fact that this guy is 63 does pretty much make him badass. Glad that he was wearing a helmet. I still don't see how people enjoy getting hit in the face with bugs at 65mph. It definately doesn't tickle.
palmerman, check your medical coverage on your mc insurance. i don't think you are covered. if you are it isn't much. i have a HOG, and the only insurance i could find with some medical coverage is progressive. if i wasn't covered on my work insurance, i would park the bike, which i did for 5 years because of discriminatary coverage. most riders think it is the same as their car but it isn't.
When I was looking for insurance including Progressive, they would cover the passenger but not the driver,,, if they would offer medical it was like $5,000... What the heck is $5,000 when you ride a motorcycle! Your right grandpop3 he better check his medical coverage.... and get this one!!! one insurance company told me that SOME WORK MEDICAL COVERAGE WILL HAVE AN EXLUSION ON MOTORCYCLE DRIVERS SO YOU WON'T BE COVERED AT ALL!!!!
